Do venues accommodate Muslim dress?
I’m worried assault course venues might not be comfortable with participants wearing full Muslim dress. Have other organisers had problems with venues being unwilling to accommodate Muslim women?
Responses
Far from it. Most assault course venues are remarkably accommodating. Most have extensive experience hosting diverse groups and are comfortable working with Muslim women in traditional dress.
To be honest, most venues have seen much stranger things! They regularly see participants in fancy dress – from hen parties to newlywed couples in wedding attire to entire teams dressed as superheroes. A group of sisters in abayas and hijabs is perfectly ordinary by comparison and certainly nothing that would worry them.
When booking, it’s worth mentioning your group’s needs early in the conversation. Most venues appreciate advance notice and are happy to discuss practical arrangements, such as providing female marshals. Frame it as you would any other accessibility requirement. Venues that cater to charitable and community groups typically go out of their way to ensure everyone has a positive experience.
