Is this suitable for Year 11 leavers?

I am a secondary school teacher and think this would make a great adventure for Year 11 leavers. What are your thoughts on this? They need something memorable after their GCSEs but I want it to have meaning beyond just celebration. Could this work for a mixed group or would it need to be adapted?

What an inspired idea! You’re spot on that it offers something far more meaningful than typical celebrations whilst providing the memorable challenge students crave. The Student Challenge blueprint would be the perfect set up for this.

Year 11 leavers are at ideal stage for transformative experience. Having completed GCSEs, they’re ready to transition into greater independence. This marks their transition whilst opening eyes to global citizenship and responsibility.

The educational integration is perfect – geography (forced migration), history (refugee movements), religious studies (social justice). Experiential learning makes academic concepts real and memorable in ways classroom teaching alone cannot.

It develops crucial life skills too: resilience, teamwork, problem-solving, community engagement. Exactly what students need moving toward further education or employment.
