After the challenge
The finish line is not the end. This section helps you thank people, share the story and keep groups connected to the cause they ran for.
Rest and thanks
Tell everyone to rest, eat well and drink plenty of water. Aches are normal for a few days. Within a week, send a personal thank-you to every team, captain, volunteer, marshal and supplier. Name specific things people did. It means far more than a general message.
Telling the story
Share photos, results and the combined total, but only with consent. Tell the story through the teams’ own words where they are happy to share them. Show the difference the money will make, and be honest about what it will and will not do.
What to do and when
| When | What to do |
| Within a week | Thank-you messages, a short thank-you post, and a note to all captains |
| Within a month | Claim Gift Aid, close giving pages, pass on any money held by groups, and publish final results |
| Within three months | Send an impact update to donors and teams, and gather feedback |
| Ongoing | Invite groups to stay involved, such as volunteering, events and campaigns |
Keeping the lessons alive
Ask each team what they learned, and what they would change. A short feedback form for captains and a call for organisers are both useful. Use what you hear to improve next time, and thank people for being honest.
The day matters most if it changes something afterwards. Offer teams a way to stay close to the cause, such as a talk from your programme staff, a volunteering day or a regular update. A group that feels part of the work will come back, and bring others with them.
May Allah bless the efforts of the women who take part in service to displaced people, and grant success to their fundraising and their work in building community.
