Unique challenge day: “Walking in the shoes of refugees”

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The school is excited to offer a powerful and immersive learning experience that connects academic and spiritual themes with empathy-building activities.

On this special day, students will embark on a journey that simulates the hardships faced by displaced people, encouraging them to reflect on resilience, gratitude, and the blessings of Allah’s creation.

Please review the following details of the challenge and complete the consent form below. Kindly keep the specifics of the day a secret from your child to preserve the element of surprise.

Objectives

  • Activity schedule

    1. Arrival at school

  • Students arrive in school as normal and attend a typical morning lesson discussing refugee experiences.
  • 2. The surprise journey begins

  • After the lesson, students will board a minibus for an hour-long countryside journey.
  • 3. Countryside walk

  • Guided reflections and group discussions about the challenges faced by refugees.
  • 4. Assault course challenge

  • Simulated obstacles representing the physical struggles of refugees. Students will encounte water, mud, and physical barriers.
  • 5. Return journey and reflection

  • Students return to school in their muddy clothes for a final debrief on the experience.
  • Your child will travel by school-organised minibus.
  • They will participate in physical activities.
  • Students will get wet and muddy in outdoor conditions.
